BCIA Didactic certification

Course Objectives:

To meet the didactic requirement for BCN

(Board Certified in Neurofeedback)

To provide hands-on experience in an actual clinical office doing a qEEG and running sessions

To teach practitioners how to add Neurofeedback to their clinical practice in a simple and affordable manner

To help practitioners provide Neurofeedback services to their clients ETHICALLY and RESPONSIBLY

To teach the various types of Neurofeedback that can be offered to clients and when each type of intervention might be appropriate for various clinical presentations

To teach practitioners the most research-based Neurofeedback interventions

Dr. Tate began teaching the BCIA Didactic Certification course for Neurofeedback in 2016 after she had been running a clinical practice for10 years.  She decided to develop her own course in 2021 in order to integrate practical examples of various EEG presentations from her own clinical work.  She also felt it was important to include a simple model for assessing EEG and implementing protocols for clinicians doing Neurofeedback for the first time.

This model uses research-based protocols developed from an accurate interpretation of the EEG. It is the culmination of 18 years of clinical experience working with thousands of clients and 8 years of consultation with Jay Gunkelman, QEEG-D, who is top in the world in understanding RAW EEG.  Dr. Tate uses this model in her clinical practice today and she feels it is very important to maintain a practice and continue developing more experience as she teaches and offers consulting to other clinicians. Dr. Tate also wanted to make the content rich with information so that students could study them and easily pass the BCIA exam.

When the course was submitted to the BCIA review board for the first time, the following feedback was sent from the reviewer:

  • Covers the BCIA blueprint very well

  • Contains clear text in the slides

  • Has a good selection of examples and illustrations

  • Is well organized

  • Is practical

  • Contains excellent reference material

  • Is a solid presentation of the information required for BCIA Neurofeedback didactic course
