Meet Yvonne

 Ph.D., LPC, BCN, QEEG-D

Dr. Yvonne Tate received her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from The College of William and Mary in 2008 and her MA in Counseling from Regent University in 2004. She became a licensed professional counselor in 2006 and she has been working in the field of Counseling and Neurofeedback since 2003. She was certified through the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA) in 2006, has been a mentor and supervisor since 2010, and has also been teaching the didactic course for certification in Neurofeedback since 2016.

 

For the past seven years she has worked with Jay Gunkelman, QEEG-D to learn raw EEG and become an expert at accurately interpreting qEEG which is the foundation for creating effective treatment protocols.  She became a certified brain health coach through AMEN clinics in 2020 and has a passion for training students and practitioners in Neurofeedback in order to help fill the field with more ethical and skilled practitioners. She has worked with over 25 interns and she launched a new company, TRS Neurofeedback Education Services, in 2021.

 

She cares deeply about people and becomes very excited for the positive changes Neurotherapy can have on their lives. Dr. Tate was also the Director of Neurotherapy Services at the Rocky Mountain Memory Center (RMMC) in Fort Collins from 2012-2017. The RMMC is neuropsychology clinic that has developed a unique neurocognitive rehabilitation program to provide a balanced approach to brain health and wellness. Dr. Tate offered QEEG and Neurofeedback services at this location for clients with various issues including sleep and attention problems, mood regulation issues, anxiety, depression and trauma.

Education & Experience

Licensed Therapist

  • First licensed as a professional counselor in the state of Virginia in 2007.

  • Became licensed in Colorado in 2009 with the Department of Regulatory Agencies– LPC #5243.

  • Director of the Counseling Program at CCU for three years, helping the program achieve CACREP accreditation, the highest standard in Counseling accreditation.

  • Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Regent University.

Neurofeedback

  • Received weekly mentoring from Jay Gunkelman, QEEG-D, since November of 2014.

  • QEEG certification completed in 2022.

  • Achieved board certified in Neurofeedback in 2006 through the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA) -BCIA is the only institute recognized worldwide granting certification to biofeedback practitioners.

Instructor

  • Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from William & Mary the College of Mary.

  • Full time faculty member in the Master of Arts in Counseling Program at Colorado Christian University in Lakewood for 5 years.

  • Completed qualifications to teach the didactic course for Board certification in Neurofeedback in 2016.

Consultant

  • BCIA mentor and supervisor since 2010.

  • Regularly attend conferences and advanced trainings held by the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback (AAPB) and the International Society for Neurofeedback and Research (ISNR).

  • Hands-on consulting to 20+ companies, interns and therapists in Colorado.

Meet Melissa

LPC

Melissa is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Colorado with 4 years of experience. She has worked with a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, ADHD, eating disorders, and career challenges. She specializes in anxiety and trauma including physical and emotional abuse, neglect, and single incident traumas such as a car wreck. Melissa is trained in EMDR and neurofeedback.

 

Melissa’s first priority in counseling is building a good relationship with trust and respect in the relationship. She wants you to feel safe and heard without any judgment. Her therapeutic approach includes client-centered, EMDR (eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing), cognitive-behavioral, and a bit of attachment and mindfulness counseling. She also has experience working in a Christian setting and is able to include religion as much or as little as you would like.
